PSICHE - painting series - Contemporary Art

I chose this name for this project inspired by a tale of Greek mythology, "Cupid and Psyche". The story is about a girl of extraordinary beauty who makes the god of love, Eros, fall in love with her, even triggering the envy of Aphrodite. I will stop here drawing the main idea that tied me to this word, which is Psyche as a representation of feminine human beauty.

The word psyche also has another meaning, that of a soul that encompasses all brain and relational functions, the psychic functions that exult from the individual's body and material dimension.

The two concepts that I have chosen to represent intertwine and complement each other in my works. On one hand we have that of a woman as a physical portrait of a female body characterized by grace and elegance, shapes I portray in movement showing life and character, the personality. A representation of contrast, body-soul.

She is the Psiche of this story of mine, not only body but also a mind, not only an object but also a soul, a Psiche whose beauty derives and blossom from the heart.

I represent it with strong dynamism, spontaneity and passion using a drippin art technique with decisive strokes and soft lines, trying to draw expressivness and corporeality and get to the meeting point between certainty and mistery, matter and spirit.
